John Gilmour Butchers
John Gilmour Butchers has a storied history that traces back to the aftermath of the Second World War. In 1946, William Gilmour, having served in the RAF during the war, established a butcher shop on High Street in Prestonpans, later joined by his brother John. This marked the inception of a legacy that has endured for generations.
The region, often dubbed the "garden of Scotland" due to its fertile farming land, is home to some of the world's finest cattle-producing farms. We frequently source our supplies from these farms. We're now excited to offer our restaurant-quality produce to you through home deliveries. Our beef is exclusively UK-sourced, ensuring you receive only grass-fed, UK-bred beef. The majority of our beef comes from Scottish farms, reinforcing our commitment to local, high-quality produce.
Now operating as a third-generation family business, we leverage nearly 70 years of experience and skill. Our passion for supplying our customers with exceptional British meat remains undiminished. We've evolved significantly as a business and now operate from our ECC-approved factory in East Lothian, just a stone's throw away from our original shop in Prestonpans.
