FIDO Alliance

The FIDO Alliance, an open industry association established in February 2013, is dedicated to the development and promotion of authentication standards aimed at mitigating the global over-dependence on passwords. The Alliance addresses the interoperability issues among devices utilizing robust authentication, thereby alleviating the challenges users encounter when generating and recalling multiple usernames and passwords.

One of the solutions based on FIDO standards is the introduction of passkeys. These are designed to replace passwords, offering a quicker, simpler, and more secure method of signing into websites and applications across various devices. Unlike traditional passwords, passkeys are consistently strong and resistant to phishing, enhancing the overall security of user accounts.
